Chaya De Silva is a contemporary artist originally from Sri Lanka, who is now based in Surrey in the UK. Her work is a vibrant dialogue between her Sri Lankan heritage and modern British expressionism, resulting in vivid paintings and mixed media works. Raised in a family of batik artisans, De Silva’s artistic foundation originated in the tactile world of layered textiles and dyes. This background now manifests in her bold use of colour, impasto and reclaimed lace.

De Silva has a degree in Business from the University of Sunderland and approaches the canvas with both discipline and instinct. Her practice explores the "chromatic frequency" of the human form, using heavily textured paint to represent emotion and bridging the gap between traditional craft and contemporary figuration. A mother of three, her work examines the complexities of identity, growth, and the layered nature of a woman's journey.

De Silva has exhibited internationally, including at the International Contemporary Art Fair Monaco (2023) and FLUX Exhibition London (2024) and she will have a solo exhibition with Kaizen Fine Art in October 2026. Her work is held in private collections worldwide, including in the United States where she has a significant collector base. She frequently collaborates with brands, such as Sony Pictures, Canon and Starbucks and charities, including The Pink Ribbon Foundation and Heart UK.
